How is cheek reduction performed?
It is classically narrowing the wide contour of the cheeks by removing the adipose tissue of the cheeks (Bichat fat pad) with a small incision made from inside the oral cavity. It is a process that can be performed conveniently under general anesthesia or with sedation.
What are the risks following the operation?
Although they are rare, leakage type bleeding, infection and temporary numbness may occur inside the mouth.
How long does the operation last?
The surgical process usually lasts for 10-15 minutes; the whole operating room process of the patient may last up to 1 hour. The patient is discharged on the same day following the operation. He/she can start to have normal meals during the same day.
